MEET GERALD SLOAN

“If you ask anyone who does it, they’ll tell you it’s in the blood…

Gerald Sloan: Owner, Coordinator, and Instructor at Sloan Training Center LLC

Gerald is a distinguished professional with a deep-rooted passion for emergency services that began with his father’s heroic mission to bring a fire department substation to the rural area of Oconee where Gerald grew up. Under his father’s leadership, Gerald’s family and members of the community pursued training courses that would allow them to become firefighters.

At the age of 17 in pursuit of Emergency Medical Training, Gerald joined the Seneca Rescue Squad where he trained as a D.O.T. First Responder.

Today, as the Owner, Coordinator, and Instructor at Sloan Training Center LLC, Gerald brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the forefront of all our training courses. With a career spanning over three decades, Gerald's experience is both broad and impressive including…

  • 21 years of service as a Nuclear Security Officer at the Oconee Nuclear Station

  • 9 years as a police officer for the Anderson City Police Department

  • 13 years as a volunteer firefighter in Oconee County

  • 30 years in Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

In addition to his hands-on experience, Gerald also holds a B.A. Degree in Emergency Services Management with a focus on Whole Community from Anderson University, and moonlights as an Adjunct CPR Instructor at Tri-County Technical College as-needed. Gerald is a certified instructor for several esteemed organizations, including the Emergency Care and Safety Institute, Accident Scene Management, and the American Heart Association.

Hear from our Heroes

“Sloan Training Center did a fantastic job in our CPR training class. We enjoyed the hands-on training and feel more than prepared to send my oldest into babysitting and for myself. You cannot go wrong with STC!”

— Brandy McDavid (Google Reviews)

“I have had the pleasure of taking two classes with Gerald from Sloan Training Center.

First time, I contacted Gerald to instruct our safety and care team at our church. He provided clear instruction for a group of 17 of us with varied backgrounds and abilities. Training was great and all came away with confidence that they could personally help others if and when needed.

The second class was Accident Scene Management. A class of 9 Motorcycle riders again received a thorough class that went through many potential scenarios of what could happen at an accident scene.

I have recommended the classes presented by Sloan Training Center to several groups and will continue to use his services in the future.”

— Klaus Bruns (Google Review)

”Class was very organized with an assortment of learning tools. Very well presented”

— Lawrence Bynum (Google Reviews)

“Good basic training for accidents. I believe there are more advanced courses, but for my needs this worked.”
